Tommy Elphick was back on the Aston Villa bench for the team’s 1-0 win over Millwall in the Championship on Monday afternoon.
The centre-back has not actually turned out for Dean Smith’s side since picking up an ankle injury against Derby County at the start of March.
However, he was back on the bench against Millwall.
Ivory Coast forward Jonathan Kodjia scored the only goal of the match against the London side as Villa made it 10 straight wins in the second tier of English football.
If Villa are promoted to the Premier League this season then Elphick will not go down as one of the team’s key players throughout the campaign.
However, it seems that the club’s supporters recognise the contribution of the 31-year-old, who has made 29 Championship appearances this season and was absolutely vital whilst others around him were injured.
