Michael Kightly is hopeful he will be given the opportunity to prove himself as an attacking force at Stoke this season.
The former Wolves winger joined the Potters outfit in the summer, and he has since been handed a more defensive role by manager Tony Pulis. City remain unbeaten after drawing their opening four games of the Premier League season, but now Kightly is keen to show the Britannia fans what he can do going forward, and the 26-year-old has called on Pulis to let him loose when they face the so-called lesser teams in the division. He told Sky Sports:
“I am having to play a bit more defensive than I would like, but we have had a tough start with our games and sometimes you have to do that for the team. We’ve played top sides at home and played at Wigan where they play a different system. Hopefully, against the so-called lesser teams at home we can be a bit more free-flowing and attacking.”
Stoke travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Saturday.
