da realsbet: David Prutton has given his verdict on whether he thinks Sheffield United can bounce back from defeat last weekend when they face Preston on Saturday. The pundit was providing his opinion on some of the EFL’s key matches for Sky Sports.
What’s he said?
The ex-Sheffield Wednesday man stressed the importance of how big this game was for the Blades, expressing that it was imperative they responded to a disappointing defeat against Bristol City.
Prutton also spoke about the way he thought the game would be played out, settling on a verdict that the Yorkshire club would prevail over Alex Neil’s Preston.
Via Sky Sports, the 37-year-old said:
“Two sides who desperately need to bounce back from a disappointing defeat meet at Deepdale. Preston’s promotion charge was halted at Reading last weekend, while Sheffield United were beaten by Bristol City.
“This is a huge game for both as they chase their respective targets, and you know they will both go for it from from the off. It should be a cracking, entertaining game with plenty at stake and it could go either way. I’ll have to back the Blades, though.”
Prutton gets it right
If Chris Wilder’s side are to have any chance of beating Leeds to an automatic promotion place then they have to win games not draw them, so the boss will certainly be hoping that Prutton’s call for an open, entertaining game rings true.
Speaking after the defeat last weekend, Wilder said he wouldn’t change his tactics, and on that evidence this game should indeed be open and fast-paced.
That would be hugely beneficial to the Blades, as they possess far more potent attacking players than the Deepdale outfit, and a cagey affair would surely lend itself to the home side.
Wilder will never be afraid to attack and if his side are going to get promoted then that forward-thinking mentality will no doubt be to thank for it.
