New Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill has continued his feud with Paolo Di Canio, as reported by Sky Sports.
O’Neill started to spat, calling Di Canio a ‘charlatan’ after the Italians brief spell in charge of Sunderland and the former West Ham and Celtic striker hit back blaming O’Neill for the majority of negatives at the club at present.
Di Canio claimed that O’Neill wasted a lot of money at the club however the Irish boss laughed off the comment after a 3-0 victory over Latvia on Friday.
“At the end of the day, it’s hardly worth it,” O’Neill said.
“You would have to go and check, but I don’t think Sunderland would concur with his £40million for a start. Even Sunderland wouldn’t do that.
“Seriously, one of those people he’s talking about [Steven Fletcher] actually, his goals helped Sunderland stay in the league, and Mignolet, they got £10million for.”
