da betano casino: According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is interested in signing West Ham United attacker Manuel Lanzini.
What’s the story?
da dobrowin: Lanzini, 24, has managed 16 goals in 77 appearances for West Ham over the last three seasons.
The Argentine spent the 2015-16 campaign on loan at the Hammers from Al Jazira Club, before the move became permanent in the summer of 2016.
According to The Mirror, Tottenham boss Pochettino has been tracking Lanzini since he scored at White Hart Lane two years ago.
It is understood that new West Ham boss David Moyes wants to build a team around Lanzini, but talk of interest from Spurs is believed to have turned the attacker’s head.
Indeed, the chance to represent a club competing in the Champions League and challenging at the top of the Premier League table would be difficult for the Argentina international to reject.
Would West Ham really sell to their rivals?
The fact that Lanzini is contracted to West Ham until the summer of 2020 does place the Hammers in a strong position when it comes to Tottenham’s potential interest.
However, West Ham know only too well about the strength of player power, with Dimitri Payet famously forcing a move away from London against the will of the club.
The club’s supporters would go into meltdown if one of their best players was sold to their biggest rivals, but if Lanzini expresses a desire to leave, it would place the Hammers in a very difficult position.
The 24-year-old, who is valued at £13.5m by transfermarkt.co.uk, has managed one goal and two assists in seven appearances for West Ham during the 2017-18 campaign. However, his work-rate has been called into question in recent weeks.
It is a transfer rumour to watch ahead of the January transfer window, and one that could indeed happen if Lanzini decides that he has had enough at the London Stadium.
