West Ham United goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski once again impressed in his side’s 2-1 win against Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday, and Arsenal should look to bring the 33-year-old back to the Emirates during the January transfer window.
What’s the word, then?
Well, the Poland international struggled to make a positive impact during his seven years with the Gunners between 2007-2014 before he joined Swansea City on a free following the expiry of his contract, but he has since become one of the most reliable and consistent stoppers in the Premier League.
Having impressed for the Welsh club, he sealed a £7m move to the Hammers during the summer following the Swans’ relegation to the Championship, and he has quickly established himself as Manuel Pellegrini’s undoubted number one ahead of Adrian between the sticks.
Fabianski was once again a key figure for his team against Saints, with a brilliant save from Stuart Armstrong’s curling effort one of the highlights in the victory.
Why should Arsenal sign him?
It may seem strange given the north London outfit offloaded him in 2014 as he became known as something of a liability when he did play for them, but he has clearly really grown and matured over the course of the last few seasons with Swansea and now West Ham.
Meanwhile, both summer signing Bernd Leno and Petr Cech have struggled at point this season with the former coming under criticism for the part he played in goals conceded in the defeat to Southampton and the draw with Brighton in recent weeks, and it is surely an area of concern for manager Unai Emery.
The Spaniard will want a safe pair of hands in goal if he is to help Arsenal progress, and Fabianksi would provide them.
Playmaker FC believes Arsenal fans won’t have to wait long to see Unai Emery’s long-term ambitions for the club come to fruition. Watch the video below to find out why…
