[ad_pod ]When Samu Saiz left Elland Road in December to join Getafe on loan it was a major blow to Leeds United. The attacking midfielder was not expected to return to Yorkshire either, given the deal included an option for the Spanish side to make the 28-year-old’s switch permanent.Saiz pushed for an exit from Leeds for personal reasons, as he and his family had struggled to settle in England.ÂHowever, he may soon be on his way back to the Whites, as his form for Getafe has left plenty to be desired and he is currently struggling for game time under Jose Bordalas. Trusted journalist and Leeds correspondent Phil Hay has recently stated on Twitter that the La Liga outfit are showing no signs that they intend to make the move to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez permanent.
Are fans being priced out of the Championship as well as the Premier League? The angry Bolton fan in the video below certainly believes so…
On the chalkboard
Given the nature of Saiz’s initial reasons for leaving Elland Road, should his move to Getafe fail to materialise then the Spaniard will likely simply seek another move away. However, if Marcelo Bielsa’s side are promoted this season, then he might be tempted to give Leeds another go in order to prove his worth in the English top flight.
Premier League football is an extremely attractive proposition that may convince the attacker to stick around. If this is what Saiz wants then the Whites would be wise to welcome him back into the fold.
Another chapter
Bielsa’s squad is already relatively small, and in the Premier League that would prove to be a huge problem. Saiz would offer extra quality depth in advanced areas. With Pablo Hernandez ageing, someone who can ease the creative burden on the 33-year-old could also prove vital.
What’s more, Saiz already knows the club, has a rapport with the fans, and showed at times in the first half of this season that he can shine under Bielsa.Â
If Leeds go up, Getafe send Saiz back, and the Spaniard is willing to try again in Yorkshire, then there could still be another chapter in his Elland Road story yet.
