Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Daily Mail revealed that Wilfried Zaha is happy to stay at Selhurst Park until the summer.
The Ivory Coast international handed in a transfer request back in the summer amid interest from Arsenal and Everton, and while a move failed to materialise then, the forward has since changed his agent and hired Pini Zahavi to negotiate his exit.
While Bayern Munich were believed to have made a loan approach this month, and Chelsea were also said to be plotting a move, the 27-year-old remains at Selhurst Park.
Zaha has made 24 appearances this season, scoring three goals and grabbing two assists.
The Daily Mail mention that Tottenham and Chelsea are refusing to meet the south Londoners’ £80m valuation this month, something that the former Manchester United winger accepts – he will not attempt to force a move as a result.
Both Jose Mourinho and Frank Lampard’s side are prioritising the recruitment of a back-up striker, and hence cannot go anywhere near Zaha’s lofty valuation.
Let’s see what the Crystal Palace fans on Twitter are saying about The Daily Mail’s report…
To begin the reaction, these two supporters seem to think that Zaha will stay at the club if Roy Hodgson can guide the Eagles into Europe.
George ordered Palace to use the Aaron Wan-Bissaka money to sign some players to help achieve qualification for Europe, as Zaha “ain’t going anywhere if we do”.
Danny added that even one year in the Europa League is “definitely” the winger’s “ideal scenario”.
Elsewhere, these three fans didn’t sound too surprised by the news.
A supporter named Asael said “not surprised” before ‘GoalaCPFC’ said that it was “never in doubt”.
Call yourself a Premier League expert? How much did each of these big-money January signings cost?
Another fan added that they think Zaha “might even have a change of heart and stay after all”.
Lastly, Kev is appearing to suggest that the Eagles can now make it into Europe following the news that Zaha looks likely to stay with Palace for the second half of the campaign – who knows what will happen.
