Well that was definitely in the script wasn’t it? Having left Manchester United to join Serie A giants Inter earlier this month, Ashley Young got his career at the Italian side off to the perfect start.
The former Red Devils captain joined the Nerazzurri on an initial six-month contract, linking up with ex-United teammates Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez. And having provided just one assist all season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, Young took just 29 minutes to get off that respective mark for Inter.
Playing as a right wing-back, the 34-year-old whipped in an inch-perfect cross for Lautaro Martinez to score.

And after seeing his performance, United fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the veteran.
A few United fans took the opportunity to criticise their own club for a sense of mismanagement, with one supporter in particular wondering what they were doing wrong.
One fan meanwhile simply lauded Young’s performance against Cagliari, describing it as “pure quality”.
Whilst he enjoyed a fine debut for Inter, at 34, it is certainly understandable why United decided to allow Young to leave. The Red Devils have both Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams in that left-back slot, whilst they also have Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot on the opposite flank.

Meanwhile, Man Utd making a loan swoop for this Premier League flop would be a smart move.
