da roleta: Brazilian right-back Dani Alves has become a target for Manchester City and Chelsea after hinting that he may be prepared to leave Barcelona.
da esport bet: Alves told Spanish newspaper Marca: “My priority now is Barcelona… but I cannot close the door to my future elsewhere. I feel happy here, but the two sides have to agree.”
Alves’ current contract expires in 2012, but he has yet to agree new contract with the Catalan giants.
Barcelona made Alves the world’s most expensive defender when they signed him from Sevilla in 2008 for a fee thought to be around £30 million. His attacking nature and style of play has resulted in an impressive return of nine goals from 78 games for Barcelona. He has won 13 major honours during his club career in Spain, so could be seeking a new challenge.
The capture of Alves could prove to be a statement-making signing for Roberto Mancini. City have been criticised this season for their defensively minded style of play and Alves could provide a distinct attacking flair from the City back four.
Money would not be an issue for either Chelsea or Manchester City, so should Alves make himself available then it could prove to be a fascinating tussle between two of England’s most powerful clubs for his signature.
