da luck: David Moyes is relieved to welcome Tim Cahill back into the Everton fold as the club’s top scorer returns from international duty.
da bet7: Everton won only one of four Premier League games with Cahill away securing a runners-up medal in the Asian Cup with Australia, and Moyes is pleased to see the influential midfielder return for Saturday’s game against Blackpool.
“Tim is back and he will be involved in the game. I don’t actually think he has played any more games than the lads have done here,” Moyes said.
“But I saw quite a bit of the tournament and the standard was poor. I don’t think it was very near the level of the Premier League.”
Everton have had a relatively poor season and they currently occupy 15th place in the table after an eighth-place finish last term.
And Moyes knows he needs to inspire his side to victories late in the season to propel his side up the table, and help convince Everton’s stars that silverware is possible in future seasons.
He said: “(We need to offer) some hope and encouragement over what we are going to do. You have to show the players around you that you are trying to move forward.”
“It is a problem and something I will need to have a chat with the chairman and the board about as we head towards the end of the season.”
There are no injury concerns for Everton as Moyes has a fully-fit squad at his disposal.
