da mrbet: According to German media publication Bild, Liverpool have joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Stuttgart centre-back Benjamin Pavard, but they face a tough task to convince the Bundesliga outfit to sell the highly-rated 21-year-old this summer.
What’s the word, then?
da brdice: Well, Bild says that the France international’s stock is continuing to rise and while Spurs sent a scout to watch the young centre-back in action earlier this month, Liverpool, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are also keen.
However, while Stuttgart’s sporting director Michael Reschke revealed to Bild that he has admitted that the club would be open to doing a deal with one of the Top 10 clubs in European football in the future – that is how highly they regard him – they wouldn’t be willing to entertain any offers of €30m for him this summer and have essentially said that he won’t be for sale.
What did Reschke say?
He told Bild: “Benjamin Pavard is clearly on the way from being an exceptional talent to a top international player.
“We are currently the ideal club for him – and he feels that too. Once, in the future, a club in the European top 10 has a real interest in a commitment, we will be serious. Benjamin and his advisor know that.
“But if a club believes they can sign him for €30m (£26.5m) they are wrong. We would not even open the door for a conversation.”

How good has Pavard been this season?
He has been excellent, and he was named in Didier Deschamps’ latest France squad on Thursday.
The 21-year-old, who primarily plays as a centre-back but can also feature at right-back and in a more advanced position on the right too, has established himself as a key player for Stuttgart and has featured in every minute of their 26 Bundesliga matches so far this term, helping them to pick up 13 points from the last 15 available.
According to WhoScored.com, the centre-back has made 115 clearances in those 26 German top flight outings, while he has made 75 interceptions and won 47 of the 56 tackles he has attempted.
The Frenchman is also decent in the air and in possession too, showing why he is so highly thought of.
Will Tottenham or Liverpool sign him this summer?
It seems unlikely.
Stuttgart are desperate to hold on to the player and it seems as though they are already willing to demand a huge offer from clubs to even consider selling him at the end of the season.
It remains to be seen whether the Premier League duo are ready to splash out on the 21-year-old, despite the obvious quality and potential he has.
